Ocean World

At the beginning of the week the children looked at some leaflets about Ocean World and discussed what they might see.







On Tuesday the children discussed what needed to be included in a letter to their parents about the trip. They wrote their letter together with a labelled diagram of what they needed to wear, in their Communication Books.

Running, Writing and... Marshmallows!

This week the children have discussed a series of pictures and then written a story about what happened. The story involved a monster creeping up behind a boy toasting marshmallows on a camp fire. As we all (including Ms Thurlow and Ms Cherry) love marshmallows so much we decided to make a Cadbury's hot chocolate, marshmallow drink. We predicted whether the chocolate powder would dissolve better in cold or hot water... and the result was, of course hot water. Did you know that if you are going to have hot chocolate then you also need biscuits to dip in it? During our English lessons we have been reading the story of The Turtle and the Monkey. This week we have planned our own version of this story, by changing parts of the story. We have also begun to create a story S to tell our stories by drawing the illustrations. Next week we will add the writing to our story S.

A Visitor from the North Pole!

This morning all of the children arrived at school full of excitement and big smiles on their faces! They enjoyed looking at each others clothes. We were very lucky because Santa took time out of his busy schedule to pay us a visit! We were SO EXCITED and jumped all over Santa! Fortunately we have all made it onto Santa's 'Good List'! PARTY TIME!!

Testing Paper Aeroplanes and Creating Moving Vehicle Artwork

This week as part of our English and Topic learning the children have been discussing different ways they can test their paper aeroplanes. They have explored the use of a paper clip, which acts as a weight to make their plane fly further. They carried out three different tests to find out which paper aeroplane could: fly the furthest; make a perfect landing by landing on a target and fly through hoops. The children discussed how to make the tests fair: only using one paper clip; starting from the same point and having the same number of attempts. The results were recorded in a table and the children were able to write simple concluding statements.
