Happy Birthday Charter!

Image
As the school has been celebrating its fifteen birthday, we have been exploring the number 15. In Maths the children drew monsters that had 15 of each body part. They made different calculations where the answer was 15. In English the children worked in pairs to write acrostic poems using the word fifteen. We had our photo taken by the number 15 which has photos of students and staff from the whole school. The children really enjoyed exploring the different activities during the birthday celebrations on Friday.

Following Instructions

In English the children have been reading the story of The Gingerbread Man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U89dkGrsYZY They have been following instructions to make different things. The children have followed written instructions to make gingerbread men, a salt dough gingerbread man and a gingerbread person chain. They followed instructions on how to mix red, yellow and blue paint together to make brown and then painted their gingerbread men. In addition to this, they have worked independently to follow pictorial instructions on how to draw and colour a gingerbread man. In Maths the children have been developing their understanding of 3D shapes by naming and describing their properties. They have explored nets of shapes and made cubes, cuboids and pyramids. The children have been very focused when making 3D shapes using straws and blu tac.
